Cocast Cable + Denon 2807 + HDMI + Sharp LCD = No Closed Caption?

I have a Comcast HD box running composite (don't ask why) to a Denon AVR-2807 which is upconverting the signal to HDMI and sending it to a Sharp 46" LCD. Previously I had the box running Component Video straight to the TV and the Captions worked fine. Does anyone know what I can do to get the captions back?

The avr will pass video but not captions because it is being transcoded and changed to a digital signal..
