The Audio-gd Reference-7.1 is a fully balanced discrete design that uses 8 PCM1704UK chips which can support up to 24Bit/96KHz input. This design uses what Audio-gd calls non-feedback. One of the features I really like about the Audio-gd Reference 7.1 DAC is how the digital processor allows me to select between NOS, 2X, 4X and 8X oversampling. The bad part is this is done by moving certain switches on the motherboard. So I have to unscrew and remove the top whenever I wish to change setting. I always preferred using 8X oversampling, even up to when I was recently forced to sell this beautiful DAC.
