This is the energy storage relationship within a cable for a specific load resistance. When the load resistance equals the line impedance, the energy storage is minimized and the amplifier will see only a resistive load. When the load resistance is higher than the line impedance, the dominant energy storage mechanism is capacitive, and when the load resistance is lower than the line impedance, the dominant energy storage is inductive. Energy within the cable is E = 1/2 L I^2 and E = 1/2 C V^2. LC = 1034 DC, with L in nH/ft and C in pF/ft.
