I completed my Jordan JX92S bookshelf project yesterday around 6pm.
I have registered about 7hrs on them so far and am truly in love. Project details: 5L sealed enclosure built from 3/4" Birch Ply. Fully stuffed with polyfill per Jordans suggestions. thick felt padding on back wall. Dayton black anodized plates and nickel binding posts. No passive filtering. Driven by Onix SP3 with all stock tubes except 12ax7s replaced with Sovtek 5751s. From song 1 I was impressed with these speakers, they definitely sound worth the money in my eyes. I am pretty impressed by the amount of bass the tiny sealed enclosure can produce as well. Highs: Maybe even more forward than my onix ref .5s they replaced. I do like the sound, it is not bright, just more present which really suprised me as I kept being told they would be rolled off quite a bit. Mids: Smooth, silky, sultry, I think the mids shine more than anything else on these. Lows: Given size, pretty impressive, especially since the design was supposed to have a 3dB down of around 77Hz they sound pretty full. Clarity: Wow. Things stand out without drawing an undue amount of attention to themselves. I notice breathing more, background noises, note and instrument seperation...piano is amazing and full range. I am truly a believer in these. |

I have spent many hours listening to these now and I must say all the initial impressions were right on and then some!
They are currently sitting on shelves at ear level until I can re-arrange the room, but for the heck of it I pulled them out about a foot yesterday and put them on stands. What a difference! The soundstage was incredible, the depth was insane and the tonal quality was unreal. I must get this room redesigned so I can get them out in the open where they need to be!! I have also noticed, while not extremely punchy, they match the sub quite well (av123 x-sub) and have enough upper bass fundamentals to pull the sound right to them. |

have you or anyone else compared these to other fullranges (in a mini-monitor type setup)? i'm trying to decide if i should shell out for them, or if i can make do with something cheaper like a fostex
