I'm thinking about a new project to scratch my speaker itch, and have been studying the Fostex FE206E driver specs.
I have heard much talk about the rising frequency response of said driver and methods of combatting it. Has anyone tried a combination of rear loading to increase bass output, combined with front loading to bring the midrange up to the 100+dB available in the treble. A challenge I'm sure, but it would be so much more sensitive across the board, and with no need for any correction network, should be very dynamic. Also, I'm assuming Fostex' published frequency response is tested by the industry standard half space method. Can anyone confirm this? Any links or information regarding experiences with front/rear horns and their interaction/interference would be much appreciated. Bob |

FWIW, Max is building a pair of 2/3 scale Tannoy GRF Autograph enclosures for the Audio Nirvana 10in drivers. With a few twists of course -it'll eventually look similar, but resized and profiled to best match the driver. Something like that for the 206 could be A Plan.
