I'm running into dead ends trying a build from scratch. Could I build this as an omnidirectional with top at 45 degree angle and driver mounted on top? Maybe, I could use a good off-axis driver like the FaitalPRO.
By putting the driver lower as in the TABAQ's design, you remove unwanted resonances that bring nulls and humps down the line.
So, no....
and by placing the driver at 45 deg, you'll get issues like beaming. Not too bad with a 3", but it starts creeping more with a 4", and I couldn't live with it with my 5".

Thanks. I'll just build with Visaton FRS8-8. I keep attempting to reinvent the wheel and it doesn't seem to work out for me.
I finally did my W5-2143 TABAQ acoustic measurements. This is first time for me to measure speakers and results are in attachments. First one at ~75cm from speaker front, second at ~30 degrees right, last- both speakers at listening position.

hello everyone I wanted to know if the measurements in the pdf are correct
thanks🙂
Hi guys, you can be of help.
thank you very much.😀
Panky - where did you get those measurements? As far as I can see, the TABAQ has not been simmed for your Pluvias, yet.Hi guys, you can be of help.

hello I got the measurements from the thousand tread posts if I remember correctly they were for the 7ms pluvia.
Sorry panky, I can only find a few posts regarding Pluvia drivers and nowhere do I see reference to the dimensions reflected in your drawings.hello I got the measurements from the thousand tread posts if I remember correctly they were for the 7ms pluvia.
Ah, sorry panky - my mistake. Your drawings seem to be according to this post: TABAQ TL for Tang BandSorry panky, I can only find a few posts regarding Pluvia drivers and nowhere do I see reference to the dimensions reflected in your drawings.
So, it must be fine then.

I guess those measurements are without a BSC.
Myself, I would enjoy them a bit more with a BSC filter.
As they are, the would sound overly bright to me.
But, the real question is... how do you like them?

I really like the W5-2143, compared with other my speakers.
I don’t use BSC, but I use an equalizer (Volumio). At first it seemed that the speakers were too sharp, but now after playing for over 100 hours the sound has become softer.
What is surprising is bass response, overall they sound great in my small room, especially with tube amplifier.
So far I have no problem with beaming because I listen to music alone and I can find "sweet spot" ...
I like volumio.
Cool.
My W5 do seem to reach as low as yours, but the bass isn't as convincing as my 4" TABAQs.
It's like they run out of breath in the bass.

Does it make any difference if I fold TABAQ? I want to use them on table/bookshelf

My W5 stands near the wall and room isn't big, maybe of that bass is very good.

Should work just fine.
Please share a picture when you are done. Looks interesting.
Thanks to covid-19. I can really get back to my TABAQ project now. Just wondering, does the port has to be front facing? I really like the port to be on the back for the clean look. Is there any disadvantage of having port firing towards the wall?
Thanks
Thanks
