What to do with RadioShack 40-1041?
I have a pair of RS 40-1041s, and no idea of what to do with them.
I have no info on these drivers, other than that they have a Fs of about 80 hz, and are rated up to 20w. (Gainclonesville!) I was thinking a TL made out of a 4" PVC pipe; if you exlude the rolled foam surround, the driver's area is about 4". I'd taper it from 4" at the top to about 60% at the bottom, as in the "audio lego" designs. http://www.t-linespeakers.org/projec...n/fe107tl.html I have the woodworking ability of a hamster, so PVC is good. However, I do know that something called "baffle step loss" will kill efficiency. What if I put a large wooden plate on the end of the tube? Would this help? |
