how to stick the carpet underlayment?

I have a carpet underlayment (? proper term) that I can use to dampen the sound in my MLTL speaker I am building.

Anyone have any experience what kind of glue?/adhesive is best on the plywood so it does not detach later on?

"tacking" with hot melt glue works for me.

I attach it to ONE surface only
