What is this in the fe206e blh plans?

Try as I might, I cant read japanese.

The plans for the fostex recommended enclosure for the fe206e show this wierd black thing that goes behind the driver.

What is this exactly? Is it necessary?

I found this info at the Madisound sight and it should answer you're questions.

"The HP Sound Reflectors are designed to be used in folded horn enclosures to reduce standing wave problems. When properly placed, the HP Sound Reflectors will reduce resonance peaks in the higher frequencies and cut down on frequency cancellations in the lower frequencies. Made from plastic."

But I cant seem to even follow the plans, there is a wierd square hole in the bottom of that section as well, i cant see where it fits in with everything.

The square hole at the base in the pictures is from a different cabinet plan. That is the plan where the stand becomes a port its for the FE 167 http://www.madisound.com/pdf/fostexc..._encl.pdf....I am unsure as to why those pictures are in your 206 BLH pamphlet.

I just bought some 206Es myself and had those same plans stuffed in the box. I think it just must have been a packaging error. Those are definitely not plans for the 206E. Stick with the plans from the fostex site:
