The thread on the Fostex 127e was simply fantastic!
I have printed two designs and would like to build one of them. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the designs! When finished I will report back on the sound compared to my pipes (which are not the optimal cab but I wanted to hear how they sounded – and they sound very good actually). But the pipes are simply too big for the driver and I want to put something more appropriate into them. Also curious how easily a sub partners up.

I was wondering if starting a thread for the new TB 4” Bamboo’s could stir up similar thoughts and designs for optimizing cabinets for this driver. Right now I am finishing up a pretty simple BR box but would like to explore new possibilities.

I feel the Bamboo’s merit similar consideration as the wonderful Fostex 127e. IMO these are the two best under $40 drivers to consider.

I put them together and wanted to report back to everyone that they sound nice in this box.
2.2 cubic foot or just under 7 liter box. Port is 2" x 5" long.
Piezo on back sounds best with .33uf cap to me but others might like .47uf or even .22uf - if they hear anything at all. I felt .47 added too much hi frequency info but after a few minutes enjoyed it... overall .33uf was best for me. Also, don't forget to add a resistor across the piezo. I used a 20 ohm. Using 10 or 8 ohm will further decrease hi freq output from the piezo.
I used the round piezo but found the rectangle one sounded the same.

Bass is just fine without any boxiness or funny colorations or bloat. A lot of air comes out of the port and the boxes are small and tidy looking. Overall the presentation is polite and smooth. Vocals are a bit 'hazy' to me (not because of the piezo, they are this way without them too). I don't hear any 'shout' others say they've heard and i keep them facing straight ahead with no toe in at all.... tho i imagine others may play around with this.

Compared to my Fostex 168S... well, the Fostex sounds more real and live. It's also more efficient and more expensive ($115 each). Fostex may be more colored overall but was more fun to listen to. I think the TB's are great for the $40 spent but certainly are not the ultimate driver. They have a similar sound to a good laid back two way monitor type speaker... with smoother mids.

I just got a pair of 4" bamboo TB's & a pair of PAWO boxes from layertone. I just rubber banded the boxes together and put the speakers in to break them in. After 4 days playing in the garage they sound a lot better. I'm now a beliver that speakers have to break in. I hope to glue up the boxes and move them into the house soon will post how they sound then. Oh ya layertones cnc cut boxes are super nice very little finish work to do before finishing and even rubber banded together they sound good they should be sweet once there dialed in.
