Full Range Speaker Photo Gallery

Dear, Elias Zacharopoulos

I'm sorry, I haven't listened to each driver.
TangBand W5-1880 can be used without any problems.
I think it is better to widen the width of the box for Alpair11MS.

Dear nandappe

Japan market is much bigger than Greek market so it is quite expected to have wider variety of units and "trade marks" . Furhermore you have industries specialised in sound (I don't forget the all-wooden diaphragm speaker. Something quite exotic for us).
My hi-fi setup have a marantz cd-player a teac cassete player and a sony receiver + sony minidisk . ALL JAPAN to give a clue...

Hi VaraA,
Great work there, what driver is that in your subwoofer?
Thanks.

Subwoofer driver is SVS SB13 ULTRA. I bought it second hand and with small cosmetic fault (carbon look top layer was loose and I just peeled it off). Fully functional driver still. Very musical subwoofer and still capable to move some air even though it is in sealed enclosure.. I think xmax is 2 inches.

Edit: I tried to "copy" enclosure from factory made model (but bit sturdier). Total weight of the enclosure with driver is over 50kg.

Hemp Acoustics FR8

A slightly modified Apra Grande design. FR8C from the UK distributor in 2007. In 2010 I cut up the Birch ply. Other things came up so the ply was stacked in the garage. I got into headphone listening spending much time building amplifiers.

A few weeks ago I found the units and decided to complete the build. There is a Deflex pad on the enclosure top, bottom and the back of the driver chamber with some 1” fibre lining behind the vent. As the box does cannot be opened I made a removable terminal panel so they and the wiring could be changed if necessary.

The finish was two coats of QD primer followed by three coats of QD satinwood in a dark grey applied with a fibre roller (very quick and easy to do). The front panel has three coats of clear QD varnish and one of pine to add a little colour. All finishing was done before the FP was attached. Before I installed the FR8C I measured the free air small signal impedance. The resonant frequencies were 56 and 59 Hz.

I really like the sound and unprompted Mrs GCL said so too. The music comes through uncontaminated. It is detailed, fast and clean with a natural tone. There is a pleasing reality to voices and instruments. They are a bit uplifted in the mid as expected and I will do some experiments to see the effects of adjustments although I am not keen to reduce the qualities of this speaker with additional R or L in circuit. The impedance is close to 8ohm at 1KHz and sensitivity for 1W around 93dB measured in room (which shows how exaggerated many manufacturer’s claims for efficiency are.) The room is my den so a bit small for big speakers but... I am considering a spiked base shortly. It is a shame Hemp Acoustics didn't last.

Dear nandappe good morning

With what amplifier do you pair your TWTD-13.5 + MarkAudio MAO10 ? I'm asking about "damping factor".
