What exactly is OSB?

Oriented Strand Board

It is different from plywood. I take it to be less sturdy, but I don't have a sheaf of papers covered with calculations that led me to believe that.

OSB is commonly used in sheeting for houses (nailed on the outside studs and covered with Tyveq).

It's made of coarse ripped wood mixed with glue and compressed. Wood orientation is random, so it's stable. It is weaker and cheaper than plywood, and is structurally quite similar to HDF, but hard/impossible to finish as is.

It certainly could be laminated to some other material (like MDF or plywood) more adapted to finishing.

Rather impossible to find such material in greece, since houses are commonly built from concrete, bricks etc.

Probably better that way. Concrete is very good for enclosures!!
