I've recently been passed a pair of speakers that were custom built (well put in a wooden box) for my uncle more than a few years ago, Probably 60's-70's.
Anyhow, each speaker contains a single Elac drive unit with no markings other than the following: 8N/ 185 This is printed onto one of the arms of the basket. Can anyone provide any info on these drivers I've spent my spare time in the last few days looking for any info on these but cant find any information anywhere. Can anyone shed any light on them, I'm tempted to try a TL or something with them. Cheers for even bothering to look. Nick.

It is probably quicker and easier to measure it. Manufacturers didn't give a lot of information in those days.
Is it in good condition? |

I wouldnt have a clue where to start measuring it, plus i don't have any equipment to use.
I've been doing mostly build it and see and a bit of paper-working since i left uni and all the equipment behind. thanks anyway, I'll see what i can find on the subject. As for condition, they are really good considering they have been moved around over the years and lastly used in my parents kitchen. There are no holes in them or marks on the cones, the only bad point is I think I'll have to dust them at some point. They have a 6.5inch cone though and the only other elac models I have seen (on ebay) are 8inch, is this cause the sellers are incorrectly including the baskets etc? which would make mine the same. cheers for your help. Nick
