Speaker A sides and manifolds complete. Working on binding posts and wire while gluing begins for speaker B.

Thanks! I’m actually a little surprised that Scott, as a lover of English geography and machinery, didn’t comment on that. :)

Looks like I’m on track to have all of speaker B glued by Tuesday. Maybe the pair will be finished completely by Thursday but it’s going to be tough with family coming to visit later in the week.

The new one comes with electric starter & disk brakes. It would be my pick for a daily driver. I had 4 Yamaha SR500s (think Japanese Brit bike), one heavily tweaked, so i well know the genre.

But at the moment my left foot is still a basket case, so i couldn’t shift if i got a bike… i do hope it comes back. There are some nice 400cc singles available these days.

I think Yamaha had reproduced the SR500, or something like it, recently.

Mine is actually an Indian descendant. 2007 model year with the iron cylinder, points distributor, carburetor etc. It’s mechanically 1955, having been produced continuously in the same factory since that year, except for a left foot 5-speed gear box and turn signals.

Life has slowed progress, but here is manifold 1 of speaker B under clamps. I used a piece of scrap to make a bridge that would allow a clamp to put pressure on the bottom of the manifold. Once this cures I’ll be able to route the wire and line the sides.

Thanks! Yes I taped the plywood edges so that the adhesive used for the lining, which is kind of like a spray-on rubber cement, would not interfere with the wood glue when attaching the final side. I’ll be glueing up speaker A tomorrow and speaker B on Friday.

Really looking forward to finishing these. The figure in the Lauan is going to look cool.

Construction complete. Drivers installed and will listen/look for a while before deciding how to finish. Will be rubbed with Danish oil plus a 45* chamfer down the front sides, a 3/8" roundover of all edges, or... any suggestions?

They sound really good so far. Soundstage goes pretty deep and bass is very controlled.
