New 15" full range - FANE

Carefull arrangement of the reflex ports can make a big difference, one at the bottom of the cab and another at the top so as when the driver heats up it creates a convection current in the air, that way you get a continuous stream of cool air passing over the magnet structure.
To get much effect from directing a reflex port at the magnet would require the port to be a bit small to prevent port compression as the entire volume of air would have to be ejected, in a large port the air will just wobble in the port. This will likely be why the vent in tbe magnet is of a small diameter.
What would be nice to see is a cast frame underhung VC neo version with the same software.

I have 4 of the 12 inch brothers (Fane Sovereign 12-250 TC). They are incredible especially for the price it is just ridiculous.

I suspect the 15 inch to be close but not that precise judging from the published parameters.

<deleted about 15 lines of praise>

Just get them is all I can say.
Don't waste time.
Get them now lol.

I wish I had discovered them earlier.

A very nice driver in a 138L sealed enclosure.

Some measurements (Fane only, no horn).

6j7,

Can you do a waterfall plot above 300hz ?

Sure. Two different views, smoothed / not smoothed.

From about 2 meters in axis.

What is interesting with this driver, it sounds "right" out of the box, free air, OB, sealed. And it doesn't shout.

And off-axis? Like 15 and 30 degrees? If it's not too much trouble.

I measured my 10" Ciare CH250 again last night, after a good period of breakin. Response was basically the same, but better. More extended highs, filling in of dips, but basically the same. It sounds better as well.

Curious how the sound will develop with these 15" units over time.

I've had a terrible experience with AN super 15 and was happy when they left home (no offense). Almost no bass, SHOUTING, totally unbalanced.

This Fane is a different story and by the way far more cheaper.
Even without EQ, they are not irritating.

If you accept the idea of not being FR only anymore, they become really enjoyable with a Monacor HD152 horn (4.7uF) and 0.39mH in series with the Fane.

PS: sorry for my not very good english.

As example:

I would "tune", by apply of damping "glue":
- reduces resonances, and midrange aud highs in spots, who should not render. Much more cleaner and clearer it will sound;-! Better focussed too.

Cut down the cone. Step by step. To match - with all the "teammates"-)

... and so on.

LG

Super driver! NO doubt!
