Default General question regarding Slim Classic GR dCHR-Ken70 1v01

Hello,
I have a rather curiousity based question rather then a specific one.
Please see the numbers in the picture: imgur: the simple image sharer

1. How the width of 13mm was calculated for the bracing? How bad would it be to use 15mm? E.g. what is alowed error?

1.1. Just to be sure - is this 13mm width brace should be full depth (246mm), from the front facade to the back?

2. Why is this horizontal bracing (see square no.2) longer than the vertical? E.g. why it does not end like a blue line?

calculated by the net required port CSA - you would probably suffer no ill effects by using "standard" 1/2" material (could vary from between 12 to 12.7mm)

yes - among other things, adds a little bit of bracing between the 3 connected panels (port slot, bottom and rear panel)

The length and CSA of the port slot(s) determines their tuning frequency - a change to either of the former two will affect the latter.

Thank you for the response, Chris.

Just out of curiosity - what kind of problems would I have to deal with, if (in the first question) I would use not 12-12.7mm, but 15mm?
I have the brace that's 15mm, and do not have the propper tools to narrow it down nicely.

Dave is probably the better one to answer that - he normally tries to normalize dimensions to accommodate "standard" material thicknesses - but of course that does vary globally.

As for "proper tools" - I normally just trim material to required dimensions on table saw

The vent spacer -- it has nothing to do with the brace -- us set to get the correct cross section area of the vent.

Decreasing the CSA means that the vent is tuned lower. 2mm won't make all that much difference. If you want to be anal you can use this to figure out how much shorter the vent shelf should be to maintain tuning: http://frugal-phile.com/boxlib/Changing-Port-Size.pdf

Originalplans are here: Frugal-phile | Box Library / Mark Audio

Yes, the vent spacer should be fill depth

Hi, I know this is an old thread but my question fits the title.

What is the designed tuning frequency of the Slim Classic GR dCHR-Ken70 1v01 box?
