Best cubic bookshelf dimensions for CHR-70

Hello everyone,

all is in the title, i'm looking on building me 2 cubic bookshelfs and put in it the CHR-70 speakers.
What would be your recommendations in term of size in order to benefit the best performances of these speakers?
must it be opened? or sealed is possible?
it will be used in stereo mode, in a bedroom, with moderate sound level.
also does anyone as already build them this way, and would it be possible to share the build with me?

thanks arvesen, these are great but are not really cubic right ;-)
i would really try this form.
or do i just need to take this as a baseline and as ideal volume, and then adapt it to be cubic?

Why cube shape? That's probably OK for subs, but most of us try to avoid 2 equal dimensions, much less 3.

But to your final question - yes, all long as you retain the same internal cubic volume .....

i was thinking that this tiny cubic boxes would be looking great in my bedroom

They might well look cool, but sonically, not so much

Why cubes are bad? I currently use sealed cubic speakers, impedance measures as smooth as in free air.

Are they based on CHR-70?
Do you have pics of them?

I'd be concerned about standing waves at frequencies related to internal dimensions, particularly with the lightweight metal cones of CHRs , or for that matter Alpairs - might cause some coloration in the upper mids.

Volumeshould be somewhere between 4.5-9 litre. Add about half a litre for braces and driver. Take the cube root of that volume x 1000 and you have the internal dimension of an appropriate size cube in cm. To get max bass they should be vented, so the vent size also needs to be factored in.

As i do want to have them small, i and based on your feedbacks, i may revert my idea and go to something more standard...
