klein bottle enclosure

after checking out Acme Klein Bottles i was wondering if the shape could be used as an enclosure for a fullrange driver possibly creating a backloaded horn assuming an exit is created.

i do want a klein stein for a beer mug!

Why not? Make a flat surface on the large part of the bottle for the driver and the open part becomes your horn. Not sure it would be any better but it has a novelty effect.

If you mount the diver in the opening, leave it sealed.

sy thanks for that link i guess it's been done in a larger scale then i was thinking of by a wide margin.

cal i was thinking the other way around; mount a small 2 or 3 inch wideband driver on the small (throat) opening and create exits around the driver into the large part (mouth).sealed could also work...
now i need to find a 3D printer!
or maybe just get some klein steins pour out some margarita's wait for spring and think on it somemore....

A Klein bottle is closed if you put driver at mouth. In which case it will be kind of like a sealed TL (if long enough). One could mount driver on wall of bottle and let mouth/neck serve as vent in a BR or TL or BLH. The aesthetics would look great in a real blown glass enclosure so you can see the Klein bottle topology. Otherwise looks like a bottle with a loop handle.

sippy and sy like the big versions and cal and xrk don't lke the idea of "creating exits" around the driver to create a "horn loaded bass port". why?

I guess I don't understand concept of exits around driver? Driver at bottle mouth and holes around the mouth into main volume? That is actually closer to a mass loaded TL.

depending on size could it not be turned into a mid horn or mid bass perhaps?

i keep thinking of it like a long back loaded horn

If you read Mr.Pass's artical, he folded the horn the way he did because of space constraints....

Now, If you could get a glass klein blown and make it into a 'Nautaloss' style enclosure, that would be a really funky aesthetic.

i keep envisioning something more "steampunk" looking reminiscent of Western Electric theatre horns or "stained glass" style construction perhaps.
i wonder how much foamcore it would take to mock one up??

When I saw Hippy's 'Micro Klein', I sent him a pm asking for more details, quote:

the demensions are based off the ones in the pdf, except everything was devided by 3.2 which scaled it down for a 2.5" driver

He also said that the driver used had no details on the 2" drive unit he used other than it looked like a $20 Dayton.
