Default Seeking Advice

Hello All,

This is my first post here, I'm new to the world of diy particularly where diy speakers are concerned. I would like some advice...I've decided to build a pair of Frugelhorns using Planet10's cabinet flat pack and drivers. I will be driving them with a Bottlehead Stereomour set amp. I'm therefore looking for the most efficient driver for the horns. I'm considering the Fostex 126en's, but from what I've read so far I understand they sound their best placed in the corners of a room.

Given the limitations of my small room size ( 9 1/2 x 10 1/2 feet ) would a different driver ( Mark Audio? ) be more appropriate? If memory serves, I've read these speakers don't demand corner loading. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

To get the most bass out of the FE126 corner loading is needed, but most end upbeing used up againt a wall only. High output impedance of your amp is beneficial here too. The 8-9 dB extra efficeincy is probably much more important with your small amp. But it is a small room, depending on how loud you need A7 might work.

Given the size of the room and the FH3's footprint, I think it's gonna be kind hard to not get close to the corners and still find space for festival seating (for 2 max?)

FE126En and the 2A3 Stereomour would be a great match of power and sensitivity - only time will tell if you find the Fostex's pronounced upper mid-range presence overwhelming. I personally find the A7 more "neutral" and evenly balanced in that regard - and as Dave notes, the room is such that the Alpair's putative sensitivity disadvantage may not as crippling as you'd think.
