Default Open baffle speaker bracing?

If building a tall, open baffle line-array / line source speaker with it's
numerous drivers and thus less 'wood' between the drivers to provide
strength for the baffle ...does the type and amount of bracing used on
the backside of the baffle effect the frequency response of the speaker?

I am thinking it would cause similar kinds of diffraction issues as you
would expect from the front baffle (rear-baffle step correction also?)

Thanks in advance for thoughts and replies

Hawthorne Audio uses a metal structure on their top model: Hawthorne Audio - The Rainiers

Just an idea.
