Any idea of pricing? I stumbled around for a minute or so and could find nothing that intuitively led to that answer.
I know this name earlier: German Physiks - High End Technology Loudspeaker Manufactur - DDD Driver - The DDD Driver
What's the connection between them?

CLS,
Thanks for the link - I finally see how it works: bending wave cone radiator driven from the top. Cool. I wonder how they sound?

You're welcome. 🙂
The DDD is said to be very good. I've never heard it myself. And it's very expensive.

Makes me want to try to build one using a paper cone - maybe a Starbucks paper coffee cup connected to a voice coil. The trick is to find so something with the same dia and a good powerful motor. I have some 5 in drivers with blown foam surrounds I can try - nothing to lose.
the tweeter/mid unit is cute http://cgim.audiogon.com/i/vs/s/f/1345014352.jpg
I'd like to find someone to make 2 B&O Sausalito knockoff cavity to play with 1" exit compression drivers

If so, I'd suggest to build some panel type DML with those drivers. They are in the same bending wave principle.
Don't let the planar shape fool you, DML is almost omni, coming with very narrow null area at the sides of panel. In this regard, I don't see a good reason to build cylinder or steep cone style for dispersion.
If looking for better rigidity, there're many possibilities in curvy surface or materials.

First of all: i want this 😀
Second: i thinks it's been done:

That link to a homemade Walsh/Ohm type speaker is an oldie but a goodie. 😀 I forgot about it. I think using foil covered wrapping paper to make a cone is a good idea.
*sigh*. I worked for Infinity when they tried a Walsh tweeter. Not successful. I was a dealer for Ohm's models, and owned a pair of "B+" for many years. Those weren't bad, but I ended up giving them to charity... I think we might have sold 2 or 3 pair over a couple years.
That X-mas paper Conus looks like a fun project. I am already wondering what driver I will trash to use for one. 😀

Coupling with a TL/Horn on the bottom side for bass is a cool idea too.

The lowther ofcourse, go cut it up and attach some xmas paper to it! 😀
LURE 1994
Hello,
i made a horn for the DDD 1994,
best sound stage.
lure
i heard the old big OHM.
it would be nice to construct a
double horn with two of the new drivers.

What should i look for in a driver if i'd want to make a pair of these? I dont have anything lying around, so i´d have to order new drivers. (preferably something sub 30 euro/usd) X are you busy making these already?
No, I have not had any time in the foam core lab lately. 🙁
I have a pair of 5 inch Boston Acoustic HD5 drivers that have disintegrated foam surrounds I can use. Pretty big magnets - just may work.

Ok, got 2 brand new speakers to cut up.. now I just have to get a cone, glue and a surround. In speaker repair they use epoxy, I'll have to order some. As for the cone itself, I think I'm going to try something else then Xmas paper. The driver I got is a 3 inch one with a 2 inch voice coil, anyone who has any ideas on what dimensions I should make the cone? Or just copy the one from the site?
I thought they use PVA (white glue) for speaker repair and to glue cones to surrounds? A paper Starbucks coffee cup starts at 2 in dia and is about the right size 😀
I watched a recone vid and they used this for glueing the voice coil to the cone

Lemme know how the cup works out, don't you think it's to heavy?
