I recently picked up a pair of gorgeous MCM Gamber-Johnson Ovation series speaker cabinets stuffed with 12 inch Rola drivers. There is almost zero info out there on these and I wonder if anyone here has any info. My best guess is that this combo was put together in the early to mid sixties. I did find a sold pair on the auction site, but that doesn't tell me much. They sound very nice for a fifty year old speaker. The cabinet has an adjustable port size opening, because you could order it with a 15", or use the adapter plate and run a 12".
I want to do two things with these speakers:
1. Adjust the port size to the optimum opening.
2. Add a "period appropriate" tweeter.
Any suggestions, comments etc. are welcome.
