At this stage I plumbed it all in temporarily and had a listen.
WOW! I was so impressed. I have been running in the speakers for a few days on some laid-back jazz on low volume in their original packaging.
The detail is phenomenal. Vocals and acoustic guitars sing out with clarity.
A wonderful sound image in front of me.
This is when I really started to wonder what I was doing. The speakers are not finished and they sound amazing. I wonder how they would sound with decent separation and positioning in a room.
As I backed across the room away from the speakers some of the clarity certainly went away. Anyway - lets finish it first.

And another question....
Do people have an opinion on whether I should put in a pre-amp (volume control)?
I expect the input to be a phone and I can use the volume control of the phone.
I have also tried input from a laptop.
Or is there a better way?
I have seen a DAC with a volume control built in that takes a USB cable from the phone. I suppose that would sound better than a 3.5mm plug!
I think the CHRontraption deserves a quality source.
Your opinions and advice please.

Yeah - first time I have used the curved edges - it is wavy. Thanks
I will have another go at that.
Just one more pass should do it!
Hi Julien,
I haven't look here for a long while, so I haven't seen your thread
I don't know if you have seen these threads.

The "angled panels" should reduce standing waves.
The last panel I mount was a side wall, so for me it was easy du bring in the "angled panels"
If you have further questions, please let me know.

If you put 1" of acoustic fiberglass on the top, back and one side, those angles are moot.
Bob
maybe use a combination of different acoustic materials
at first look the inner angles almost made think it was small quaterwave
btw ... the inner 'angles', try drill holes in them
