Call me odd, but when I compared my Scan-speak 2-way with SDX7 acting as a sub-woofer(Both vented), and compared it to my Alpair 7's in their transmission line enclosure in my room, I prefered the alpair 7's. Even in heavy rock and dubstep. Would mention that i am using these in a 12ft x 9ft room though. (somewhere between 65-80dB is my usual listening levels)

In relation to the cones not being rigid, and having some form of flex, is there a system out there that can track the movement of the cone in a 3d field? Kind of like the laser testing i have seen but for the entire cone so you could end up with a slow motion, 3d capture of the cone when put under different loads?

Just curious, and a interesting thread!

Yes, but they're custom designed & built AFAIK (same for the software controlling them), so you'd need to do the same. IIRC, MA use something like this, as do companies like Seas etc.
