Default Fostex FE168EZ Cabinets

Why do all the cabinets need to look like ugly monoliths for the venerable Sigma series drivers?

Has anyone designed an attractive cabinet for these wonderful speakers.

Sorry, but I have to have wife approval, yeah, I know what you're thinking :-)

ha ha, she would kill me..... thanks Samual, but those monoliths are even less appealing than the other cabinets.

I'm really trying to avoid the attack of the 50 foot tall box. I may have to look at an alternative to the Fostex.

What do you mean by 'attractive' speaker cabinets? Since everybody has different aesthetic preferences, we can't help a great deal without more to go on.

To please wifey: perhaps use it in a relatively compact closed box on a stand, and combine with an active sub?

something as ordinary as a rectangular box of reasonable height without the Big Ben housing for the driver itself
Cheers

Luckily for me my wife doesn't like the oftentime exaggerated sound emanating from a sub. She preferred my previous speakers, but I no longer did!

Once I heard a 'full range' driver, I was smitten by the experience.

I am looking at the prospect of having an established maker in the US design a pair for me utilizing the Fostex driver's and perhaps a higher register tweeter.

No rush as yet!
Cheers

The 168ESigma isn't ideal for that sort of box, although I'll see if I can come up with something later (I'm lecturing most of this afternoon & this evening, so can't do it now), or if I've got something lurking on one of my old HDDs that might be of use.
