BTW, do you think that the Fostex recommended enclosure looks bad? I think it is quite acceptable in looks, proportions and size (for a floorstander, that is).

How about a Metronome? Don't know how well they work in that style enclosure, but the dimensions for the FE168eS are in the tables.
The Metronome

Cheers, Jim

Thanks Jim,
Certainly an interesting looking structure. Even my wife thought they were vaguely reminiscent of my old Wilson's which she actually liked.

Whatever I end up with, will be another checkmark off of my bucket list.
Regards to you

I spent some time looking for a cabinet that I found to be more along the line that I was interested in. What I have found so far are/were selling for 500 - 3500 per pair. Now if I can find out what was going on inside the boxes, I could attempt a pair.
Cheers

The latter at least appears to be a perfectly straightforward BR. No mysteries there. The middle example doesn't appear to be showing in your post. The first is the 1st gen. version of Vaughn's 'Pinot monitor', with the 168 partnered with Fostex's FT7RP and a passive radiator on the back -from the look of it, the Seas SP18R 6.5in model. Shouldn't be rocket science to do something similar, although when I last roughly back-engineered one of their boxes, I didn't think the alignment was up to much. If you want LF output, the 168 is the wrong driver unless you can either horn load it (decent sized horn), or Eq it up, the price there being a loss of efficiency & dynamic range.

Thank you Scottmoose.
Sorry to all for the missing images, hotlinking is an unsuccessful way of posting.

The first image was a similar 17" X 10" X 12.5" box with a 168 and a metal dome tweeter, non ported.

I have heard the latter, the Vaughns' and a Tekton (which is very similar to the last box with the striped face). In all cases, there was more than enough bass to satisfy me.

I currently have front ported boxes with FE126en's providing me with excellent sound. I would, of course, prefer an extra octave at the bottom, but, these are such musical drivers.

May I kindly ask you to recommend a box and driver combination?
Thank you!
Jacomb

Budget and size limits, partnering equipment, personal preferences in terms of sound you like?
