Default black kevlar Monacor SPH 30X/4

G104190A.jpg

Just ordered a pair of these kevlar 3 inchers for an omni experiment
I've been told they sound v good altho there's a pronounced treble rise. Interested to see what will happen with a bit of tweaking/using as an omni will do the the overall response

SPH-30X/4

30 gbp each from Bluearan ( for the black version)

I didn't know they came in black as well. Where did you get them?

I used these, the yellow version, and I liked them. Very good detail, surprisingly large sound. The open baffle speakers I built with them sounded best (a subwoofer/satellite arrangement, obviously).

Beware of the dustcap though, very fragile. It doesn't just dent, it implodes...

Bluearan in the UK, who have the most long winded order process ever the black ones are slighty more expensive (but saved 40gbp by not buying direct from monacor !)
I'm removing the dustcap for this build

Nice find there Bill. I havent spotted those before. Cheaper than the TB W3s I have though. Keep us posted on this build, as soon as I find someone who can turn the reflectors Im going to try that approach.

For the reflector I'll use a simple mock up to test- if it works out on measurements then a cad file/ RP /mould using a carbonology kit

carbonology? Is that carbon fibre composite? I was planning a turned wood reflector, though how well wood would work, and quite what curve to use is beyond my knowledge. Also my TBs phaseplug may complicate matters somewhat.
