The newer alpair5 or 6 may work, i havent checked the specs though. Certainly the 'old' A5 i have have a very underdamped response in vented box, and dont quite make 100hz F3 in a sealed box.

not that I can recall - Dave might still have a pair around to confirm, perhaps even photos thereof - and IINM the 5 was a short production run, around the same time as Mark worked on developing a "very similar" driver for Ted - actually a rather interesting story, that

Yes. Uses ferrofluid as a substitute. Due to onerous Euro enironmental rules that added ferrofluid to the list, it was never redone, the JXR6 will likely suffer the same fate.

wd adding a tiny amount of extra mass to a FR cone (to lower the fs and extend the bass response slightly) ruin the sound?
