This looks to be a non-starter for Celestion due to it's neo motor and the rising cost of Neo.

What sort of design would you recommend for this driver? (I'm very new to reading TS parameters). Seems like it would only really work well in a 3-way setup.
Because of it's high fs it's probably best suited to a "FAST" design - where this is a full range and another driver is added in for midbass section, particularly near the baffle step pressure loss region.
It could be in a box.. or even a large panel for OB.
You shouldn't listen to this driver to far off-axis or you'll loose the near 13 kHz + of highs it reproduces. Say ideally perhaps about 5 degrees off axis, either "toe-in" or "toe-out". Its treble response is actually better than many "fullrange" drivers.
Alternatively it could be a nice extended midrange, with something like a cheaper small Dayton Audio tweeter to accompany it (..and a basic 1st order high pass higher in freq.).
I suppose with a bit of "massaging" you could get your "baffle step loss" compensation and a bit of added low freq. extension via a back-horn, but that would put it's delayed output in the midrange - NOT a good idea.
You could also get a bit of extra extension with a Bass Reflex design.. just plug the T/S params into WinISD standard to model that, BUT you wouldn't have any baffle step compensation. (..though the Edge baffle model program can help you with that.)

The top end on this driver looks pretty "nasty" lots of cone "break-up"! I don't think I'd be tempted to try it!

goes high enough, clean enough to mate to a good cheap tweeter.

Its probably quite a bit better than your average Fostex.
With a 5mm gap and 7.3mm coil, the 1.13 mm linear
Xmax is one way, bothway it is 2.3mm, and it will do
probably the same again with modest bass distortion.
In 2L to 3L sealed its basically a midrange, but could be
used for AV with a (>) 80Hz filter in 7L tuned to 90Hz.
(Again this tuning is near ideal for acoustic guitar.)
Same sort of thing would apply to any TL/MLTL loading.

Nice driver for $8, for the top end you really need to see
the set of of of-axis curves to judge 6KHz upwards.

Hmm it was on sale for $8 back then, now on close out for $12.9. I thought I got a good deal lol just ordered a pair cuz I needed $25 more spent for free shipping.

I'd expect them to do rather well in a small-ish boombox, crossed to a cheap tweeter.
Go ported, tune for a bump in the 80-120Hz region and you're good to go.
In fact, put a pair in parallel for a 4ohm load, then you can bi-amp the tweeters...

I got the 4 ohm version. Similar but slightly different t/s.
But that sounds like its do-able on the cheap.
Amp suggestions? Chip amp for around $25ish?

I got 4 of these for a small guitar amp. They sound reasonable for that purpose, but a bit bright for electric lead guitar. You can get to 80 Hz in a ported box, but you will be limited by Xmax to about 25 watts for 4 speakers. I think that a good single 10 or 12 inch guitar speaker would do better in my application.

The above horn design behaves well from 200Hz to 800Hz, but
above 800Hz the directivity narrows wildly, and there is no EQ
on this planet gonna fix that off axis without ripping your head
off on axis...
A diffraction slot would give a wider bandwidth of well behaved
dispersion before you had to cross to something else. Its likely
to raise Q, and Fs, and make the top roll off, and have dips, but
those flaws can be equalized, and the useful bandwidth would
be improved...
I'm thinking the FaitalPro 3inchers might be the real ticket if
they ever go on some absurd sale. The neos are a bit pricey.
And only the 4ohm of the low cost ferrites has low enough Q.
1.1T ferrite vs 1.4T neo. I don't believe they can both share
the same 91dB sensitivity, else I'd have already bought the
ferrites at PE's everyday $19....

I've used this driver and would not use it full range. I used it as a mid. The break up isn't to bad, the treble is falling by 9khz. It sounds a bit dull. I used it as a mid.
