Seas fa22 - sealed or vented
I have built a golden ratio sealed box for Seas Fa22 full range drivers. I am happy with the result and they sound good to my ears (even thought they look a bit industrial in their unfinished MDF).

Now, for fun I modelled the box using King's MathCad worksheets, setting the port infinitesimal in the ML TL worksheet, and it looks good. I then started to play around with the port and found that I got a nice flat bass extension into the 40s with a port of r=0.8 in and l=0.7 in (the thickness of the MDF).

The thing I am not sure about: could I just drill a 0.8 in hole in the box and thats my port. Or would such a small port create problems with port noise. Or is the dimension of the port so small it implies a stuffed port, sort of aperiodic?

It won't work, port velocity will be too high, you need a bigger longer port.

Thanks for the reply, I should have been able to figure it out my self. I will build ML-TL or ML-TQWT enclosures for the drivers, just need to figure out how to best fold the line to fit them into my room.
