Hello friends. In the world of Multi Drivers and of Crossovers, the Impedance Correction Circuitery called "Zobels" is of importance to flaten the overall impedance of driver(s).
my question is; How important or not, is the same circuit in a Single Driver situation. Would having one take away from sound quality? Thanking you in advance, Vilic |

If you have a hi-Z amp or a large BSC filter, you can use a series resistor and cap to tailor the high end frequency response. But it is not a zobel per se because you are adjusting for the FR shape, not the impedance shape.

I have found that you can get a nice flat impedance curve on a fullrange with a zobel, at the expense of some top end roll off (not usually a good thing). If your driver is really HOT on top, this may help.

Hello again and thank you very much for replying. The story is that I want to build a small TL with a 2" Tang Band driver. (W2-1803S) I do not want to add any Xover component if I can. But, if I have to say add just a cap to cutoff the low end (to protect the driver in higher levels of volume), how much of sound quality loss (i.e. staging, transition...) I should be expecting, using a regular transistor amp?
Thanks again, Vilic |
