If my study of the 8" drivers is any indication, i'd approch the alnico carefully. With the 8s it sure looks like the alnico is there for marketing purposes as the motor on them is much less powerful than the others.

The prices of the Neo models have gone up considerably. Company claims almost twice the bass output with the AlNiCos.

I am wondering if anyone has attempted to retrofit an Altec A7 cabinet and used an Aperodic stuffed port instead of the open port in front. A lot of the vintage 15" coax/triaxs worked pretty well in these cabinets with some port tuning. Which was easy enough since the front panel is removable.

I don't like the look of the FR plot for the AN 15 Neo, it has a bump in the treble that's quite different than the Ferrite although I haven't had a chance to hear it myself. I'm planning to design and build a cabinet for my own AN Super 15 soon. Looking at simulations it wants a volume of 250 litres or larger. And it may be more suited to a sealed cabinet than a ported one.

I have very large cabinets Approx 15" L x 15" W x 74" H with 2 openings for 12" drivers. I am wondering how an AN 12" Cast driver would work with a 12" woofer wired in parallel in such a cabinet. Any woofer suggestions?

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to revive this thread as I am in the same situation with a big room and not knowing what to do. Was thinking FAST system or a Big Horn or even something like those big AN's Any advice welcome and certainly would love to hear how this project ended up! Kindest regards Adrian |

My projected ended up in my living room. Still some experiments to be done but if you have the room and are willing to build a large box I'd go all the way and get the 15" units.
