yea, my 4" bamboo had a few spikes in it.
Never bothered me till I figured out the 6khz spike shouldn't be there.
Then it was easy to spot.
Too much clang on cymbals.
A bit too much something, but not the irritating 8khz s's and t's.

I think I am a bit less sensitive to 1.5kHz now compared to years ago before I got married. That is the frequency of the wife's nag.

Have to learn how to turn it off for a peaceful and harmonious marriage...

It has been a while since I have done a direct comparison between the 10 Neo and 15 cast frame.
Now that they have had some break-in I will do some direct listening tests in open baffle with and without woofer support.

Here is Emotiva XDA-1. Plenty of space for modding, although it looks quite good already, at least for the price.

Time to play with this DAC
It has a very nice output section comprised completely of Toshiba 2sa970 and 2sc2240.
I wish they were jfets, but they are definitely one of my favourites for small signal bipolars

Need to check the caps + regs

regs are lm7805
power caps feeding regs look like cheap crap. I will replace those first

I have not noticed beg variations with PSu caps when using regs, especially if they are pre reg. Tried evrything from Nichicon Kg, Muse, Silmic II, Mundorf. Just not any real perceptable difference. I would pick performance over boutique in that position.

I agree with what you say, however the capacitors are chinese crap so they are definitely going to be replaced.
Replace power supply caps with Panasonic FR caps, then replace all the signal caps with Elna Silmic.
But first I just want to listen to see if it is an improvement over the AKM DAC in the behringer deq2496.
