You would need to provide information regarding what speakers he has.

Gating has no effect on what the ear hears.
It is a mystery to me what it could be. It could be the spider loosening up I suppose.

These AN15s are allready the best speakers I have heard. I know there is room for improvement, but I will be extremely impressed if they get any better.
The funny thing is I am only using them <300Hz at the moment because I am using the 10 Neo to do midrange and treble.
I will be building an Onken cabinet for the 10s soon, so it will be interesting to see how the 10 Neo sound in a box.

I am not much of a fan of EQs because in my experience they don't make a boring speaker sound good, but in this instance it might be worthwhile for OB speakers. RA7 made me curious, and curiosity got the better of me.

Melon, invest in a mic (Dayton), mic preamp (m-audio) and you'll be done. Measure, improve, measure, listen.

Speakers make a BIG difference.

I can't help but wonder if you will end up finding that two 15's running open baffle, one running <300Hz and the other >300Hz just might give you the best sound for the least amount of fussing and fuming with building boxes. But I do have to say I admire your efforts.

I reckon you are probably right about that. However I want to explore every bloody possibility.
I have not even properly played with the compression driver yet.
Probably play with the EQ today and possibly the active crossovers + biamping.
