re the "world renown" NS10 & variants:
The Yamaha NS10 Story
There's no rule that a "studio monitor" needs to be as relaxingly musical as some of us here might want to live with - and in the case of the NS10, its low price and predictable sound are probably high on the list of its attributes.
....
Wow thanks for a great article on the NS10!
I really enjoyed that and the link they had too comparing 18 different monitors - great stuff!
Thanks again
Now I want a pair of Auratones too. LOL
here's a Behringer 2031p vs a Nirvana Super10 stamped frame at ~3feet indoors. fwiw a good concentric setup is a good thing - I get good results from Eminence which have 80->109oz magnets. If things aren't ok on the crossover, then one can have problems. Alpair's 12p might make a nice monitor
AN10 - no compensation = bright/rough sound/graph, Behringer - good graph
crappy sound - at least to my old ears - droning bass, incoherent on piano
