Open baffle placement near walls?

I am considering building an open-baffle project. I have no experience with such speakers, and I am curious about the best locations to place such speakers in the listening space.

Are there any rules of thumb to guide the placement of open-baffle speakers? For example, should they be a certain distance from the back wall? Should they be a certain height from the floor? From the ceiling? Should corner placement be avoided? Are baffle and driver size the main influencing factors, or are there other considerations which affect placement in the room?

I would appreciate any information from those members who have experience with these speakers. Any links or suggestions for further reading would also be appreciated.

anything is possible, but you will probably have to experiment. A traditional OB where the speakers are monted on a plane baffle, or u-shape etc. can't be placed closed to back wall since the bassoutput will suffer to much. But, there are also corner OB's, and I have seen a couple of examples here on DIYaudio. In it's simples version it's an OB woofersection where you have a sheet of wood from the corner and out in the room. On this sheet of wood you place your driver.

Many thanks, gentlemen. The links you provided supply the kind of information I was seeking. If anyone else would like to share any personal experience with their open baffle speakers and their placement in their rooms, I would be interested in reading about it. Thanks again.
