+1 These were a fun project as a gift but I have much better sounding speakers that didn't cost all that much more. They aren't bad when mated to a powered subwoofer though.

Would it be possible for someone to describe the alternate port on the BR/ML-TL Hybrid?

Is this simply a 10mm opening running horizontally across the bottom, or am I a bit mixed up?

You got it. A rectangular vent that is equivalent to the triangle.

Sorry for waking this old thread: are the cut corners needed on the 'Ken-Lite?

I am looking for a box to adapt to a tabletop radio project, a kind of modern version of my old Beomaster 900K ( Beomaster 900K ) and that would mess with my design.

If you meant the beveled vertical edges, on many of Dave's designs those are in effort to reduce edge diffraction, but we have no hard measured data to confirm how effective that is, and any subjective evaluation would be exactly that - confirmation bias at work, methinks.

So, short answer would be no.

The small bevel makes a potential difference only at the highest frequencies and given that the FRs are beaming at these frequencies, they become mostly cosmetic. They give a cosmetic look that harks to the much larger, much more effective champers on our full-on miniOnken boxes.

Can the ports on the folded and non-folded fence posts be adapted to other shapes? As close as possible to the original location? Like, a circle?

Position is important, cross-section area is important, shape not so much.
