Default Need a Driver

2" or smaller

It must play from 400-2kHz with very low distortion, similar to Fountek 89.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Not sure what your application is, but the HiWave BMR12's are pretty interesting for a compact full-ranger. HiWave BMR12 Compact 2" Full-Range Square Speaker 12W 8 Ohm 297-210

Chicago,

Any idea where I can get charts on it's distortion?

It's very cheap compared to the driver I'm comparing it to, so I'm scared the quality will not be very good.

Here is your datasheet: http://www.hi-wave.com/downloads/dat...BM36S12-4A.pdf

The BMR technology is attracting a lot of interest, as here: Near full range BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator). Why not try them out? At $13 apiece, or something, it's pretty hard to go wrong.

Is the Aurasound NS3-193 a candidate? The only other one I can guess quickly is the Tang Band W3-881. I'm merely guessing here though.

OP wants 2"or smaller. The BMR looks interesting. There are some small Tang Band drivers at PE too. But haven't tried out any and no idea on distortion.

Icor, why care about distortion? I recognize your name from techtalk. They're distortion crazy over there. But most research says we shouldn't be putting much weight on distortion results.

Perhaps if you explained your objective we could be more help. Perhaps a 3" would work. Larger cones inherently have less distortion in the range you're asking about.

A 3" won't work, as I mentioned I've found a good candidate for that size already.

I need a 2" or close to it, for excellent off-axis response in the Hz range I need it to operate at.

Suggestions appreciated.
