Altec 601-8D with OB

Hi There,
I am new to this forum and hoping to get some advise on my latest DIY project. Just purchased a pair 601-8D with crossovers via email. Before building a 614 cabinet, I would like "test" how they sound. So, I am making an Open Baffle, a "sheild" with 540mm x 400mm frontage and sidings of 150mm at top & 200mm at base. It is made out of OSB particle board. Any experience on OB of this kind? Is this going to be "waste-of-time" project, love to hear what other members think?
Some info on my system - I use CJ amp and AudioNote preamp.
I have experience with many speakers, like Tannoy 10B, Rogers LS 3/5a, Harbeth M30, Ensemble PA-1, Focal kit, Dyna M1, and many more.
This is 1st time I own an Altec; have tons of expectation.

Since 601 is a coax and not a fullrange you may find more experience with this driver on the multi-way forum. I used to have 604s but never tried them OB. Can't see how you'd waste much time building OB.

No experience with this driver, though it could do OK in an OB alignment if your amp is either a matching impedance design [at least 8 ohms of output impedance] and/or has variable DF tone controls to EQ it ~flat.
