I'm going to start a new project at the end of this month and I'm going for a pair of Alpair 7.3 grey in golden ratio bass reflex enclosures found here, together with a CSS Trio8. The reason for my choice is that I've always wanted to try fullrange speakers (midrange magic) and I know that I'll mostly would like some more bass, therefore FAST. All three speakers including freight cost for a total of 464$ seems like a fair deal to me and fits my budget.
I got a good price for two 41hz's amp10 kits so i couldn't resist to buy them. I'm thinking of using one of these amps for the Alpairs and the second one will be bridged for the sub (200w @ 8ohm). I'll be using my computer as source with toslink to my DacMagic, to a MiniDSP, to these amps. I'm hoping of good or at least decent performance with this combination. If not, I got a test system for future builds. The only thing I'm concerned about is the enclosure for the Trio8. I prefer a enclosure that can deliver decent bass down to 30hz or close. Either closed, vented or ported box and as small as possible. For some reason I find it hard to find any box designs for the Trio8 on the web. I do know the t/s parameters but I'm too insecure to calculate a box by my own. That's the thing I would like to get some help with (volume and port length, if any). The setup will be used for all kind of music in a 20-30m2 room. Do you guys think this setup will work well? My future plans would be to use my lm3886 amp to the Alpairs and build a lm4780 amp for the sub. I will of course share pictures during the build time |

You have a DSP, so closed with a LT, like I did in this design:
Nescio: Alpair5 + Trio8 + DSP = wow |

These two puppies just arrived to their new home!
I'll maybe start soldering on Sunday or during the next week. I also have some sheets of of 19mm MDF left over from a car stereo build. Thinking of using it for the Alpair 7 cabs. Not the best material to use but since its free I'll probably give it a try. |
