What are the audible pros and cons of both enclosure kinds?

The attached file shows an approximation to a globe cabinet and looks like a football.

Better imaging due to a reduction in baffle diffraction, but less midbass reinforcement from both driver loading (airload) and from directional definition (. Potentially a strong modal behavior in internal reflections. In a small sphere, the driver frame would interfere with the single pathlength of concern (if it protrudes far enough in). In a larger sphere, one would want to put something in the center of the sphere to suppress the modes defined by the pure symmetrical dimensions.
