@ Alex

With our current outside temperatures in high 30s I can not even dare to go to my workshop (itís 10-15 degrees more in there). Therefore Iíve done nothing about my box so far, however itchy I am to try your Blu Tac recipe.
In the mean time Iím reading some basic theoretical stuff on vibration damping under harmonic excitation (for simplicity) to figure out what is more beneficial Ė actual viscosity of the dampener or mass increase of the oscillating surface. You wouldnít have an answer ready, would you?

@ Pano

It is really flattering for me to be mistaken for some youngster who has never built anything before. Only last 15 years of my business are dedicated solely to finding and eliminating design flaws in electronic equipment; before that I used to design and make things. Not much audio, though.

I am convinced that any ready-made product can improved and brought to desired level of quality/functionality with much less efforts than manufacturing it from the scratch. All those factories have manufacturing equipment far beyond the wildest dreams of DIY person. Besides, the design engineers are not always stupid. Often, but not always. Iím coming from my experience.

Even you guys on this Audiophilesí forum do not make your own speakers Ė I mean, conventional speakers (transducers) - magnets, coils, baskets etc.

Happy New Year, everyone!

G'day r6578,

No simple answer - keep reading! :-)

Applying Blu Tac is a job you can do in the house as the only mess is the packaging.
