Default Any DIY versions of something like this: Thoress

This speaker looks really interesting, but paying $10K not an option for me at this time... probably not at any time actually:
Thoress FR20CD MK3
Loudspeaker 1 - 96 dB - Thöress

Anything similar in DIY built? If so, feedback and recommendations are appreciated! High sensitivity very important. Also, don't want anything larger than this.

A single front-mounted high-grade 8″ full-range driver
connected in series with a 12-inch bass transducer
mounted in the side of the cabinet are loaded by the same
carefully tuned tapered quarter-wavelength tube
(TQWT)...A further major element of the design is the
wide-dispersion constant directivity super tweeter
treble horn radiating from the top of the cabinet.
