I'm looking for the highest 'sensitivity' most 'efficient' loudest midrange/fullrange speakers for a new project I'm doing.
Currently I'm using 2 x 4" car speakers with a sensitivity of 88db I can stretch to a 5" but would rather keep them small as its for a portable. I'm on a budget, so cheaper the better...anything under £100 The quality is not a massive issue nor the bass output I wonder if you can recommend me any? |

I heard good things on this one:
4FE30 4'' MID HIGH SPEAKER At about 60% of the regular going price, Recone Kits offers a good deal, especially for a driver with a neo-magnet. Maybe it's cheaper in Europe locally or online too for you since it's an Italian mfg. 91dB is not bad at all for 4" IMO. IG |

Sd is a term in the equation for the efficiency of a loudspeaker so is a limiting factor in effiecincy. The most efficient of the usual candiadates is the FE126En (a 4.5" driver)

The Monacor SP-60/4 is the best 4" high efficiency, almost full-ranger that can also play real bass at a reasonable cost. Highly recommendable. A true gem.
SP-60/4 - Monacor HiFi bass-midrange speakers 60Wmax 4Ω - Europe Audio It's "only" 90dB/w/m but it's also 4 ohms so for all intent and purposes except battery life if that's an issue it's equal to a 93dB/w/m 8 ohms driver (like those suggested above). I am afraid, once the Monacor is Baffle Step corrected, its real efficiency will be around 84 db/m.

And there are tricks to avoid having to baffle-step correct any driver, so why even bother posting it? |
