And one more from me.
The Hungarian BEAG. P.S. In above links 3 and 4 for Bose 901's there are some inaccurate mixed pictures about EQs and wiring diagrams of series 1, 2 and the latest! |

There is no theoretical basis for the Bose 901, besides the company's price politics and marketing an additional reason to hate it for most people interested in audio, DIYers and others. Me and others experienced that in discussions about "flooders", too.
I once did an experiment with single driver speakers directed towards the wall and noticed that a slight rotation inwards or outwards in about the angle of the 901 gave much better imaging than directing it 90° to the wall. I am quite sure even Amar Bose doesn't know why this is the case. |

May be the sound is mystery, but not always
For most things there is some physical-science answer. In this case is probably this: As we know, the sound waves from the most of loudspeakers are narrow directed, especially the high-mids and highs. Imagine a mirror and a beam. Situation with the turned 90* speaker is more or less the same. It makes a "shadow" for a part of sound-waves. |
