Default Cheap full range drivers?

Besides parts express and madisound where can we purchase cheap full range drivers? I remember seeing posts of online dealers selling inexpensive drivers that had high Qts that might be perfect for open baffle setups using helper woofers and tweeters. Probably ceiling speakers? I've been searching thru the posts but cannot find the sites. Anyone recall?

Once in awhile some fairly good driver's come on the market that aren't too expensive. I know that I bought up a few of the better Radio Shack drivers when they closed out. The NSB drivers from a few years back aren't too bad either, although they can use a bit of help at both ends. A friend and I measured the FR of the NSB drivers (I paid $.49 each) and they were quite a bit better than the measurements we did on an Audax 4 inch driver that went for $49.00 each at the time.

Best Regards,
TerryO

Quam was in many inexpensive consoles, car audio, PA sound and sold under many auto and other store brand names and may still be for all I know. I bought from Olson's Electronics since they were cheapest there. I remember paying $1.97 back in the mid '60s for a very nice sounding 4" x 9" car audio rear 'deck mount' that made a very nice 'tower' TL or open back ~aperiodic 'bookshelf' for bedrooms, apt. dwellers. Unfortunately, they're really pared down their offerings: Quam-Nichols Company

McBride in Canada is another one. Several of their drivers look and have same-same basic specs as some of the old RS drivers: http://www.loudspeakers.ca/Qmedia/McBrideCom6.pdf

Then there's Revere: Revere Industries

How cheap? The Fountek FR88EX is an excellent performer and doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

They were good value when they were $27 each, neo issues have pushed it up to $40, right in the midst of FF85/125wk, MA CHR/CHP70/EL70.

But fountek fe85 and aurasound ns3...

I would love to find cheap and cheerful low Qts 6" and 8" FR drivers to build an approximation of that wacky and probably very loud Lowther Accolade 4 box design for little money:

Hi,

The route to some cheap drivers is to know the model your after in
say Monacors, Visatons Skytronics etc range and then search, they
can be sold by some fairly obscure vendors.

e.g monacors SPX-32M :

Found those for around £30 a pair delivered in the UK, pretty good pricing.

rgds, sreten.

Don't forget about MCM electronics when looking for cheap drivers.
