I have searched, and found to no avail, anyone who has used the Scanspeak 10F/8424G00 as a full range? or possibly with a helper tweeter.
I have only really found these threads, but no actual listening opinions. Your next extended range driver? Scan Speak Discovery 10F/4424G00 HTGuide Forum - Low Budget Speaker Porn As a mid range, and not full-range- Build Thread: Ardor - point source monitor I have been looking into some mini monitors for a specific application- 4" for Mini Monitor And a previous thread with my impressions of other Full Range drivers- Replacment for Veravox 5s More recent (enough output) from a sealed BB3.AL- Hobby Hifi BB3TL And its been suggested that a full-range driver might suit me better. This is for low level listening, in a small 8ft square room. SPL Output/bass depth is not an issue. Thanks, Rob |

I'd say (without direct experience with the driver) that this is a mid range driver that exhibits extended range. Even though you don't need bass. Voice coil magazine apparently reviewed it saying it wasn't good below ~800hz. Additionally, John k, zaph, and Mark K have measured it saying the bottom is only good to ~500hz. If you look at the spec sheet. This thing is closer a 3". Most 3" drivers, even intended for full range, don't like playing any bass.

I have a pair of these for testing as a FR. I got them because Joachim really likes them. They seem quite expensive and will need to be VERY good to compete with FF85wk or Alpair6.2

Dave, would be interested in your thoughts on the 10F when you have had a chance to play with them.
As mentioned, i was having enough output with the Vearvox 3/Omnes Audio BB3.AL so higher SPL are not an issue for me. I would like something that bridges the gap between small mid bass mini monitors and full range drivers, and this seems to fit the bill. |

Hi
The german magazin Hobby HiFi has testet it and found it to be a good driver for FAST projects. In their latest issue they have a build for a FAST project with a Scan Speak 10" Discovery driver in a closed cabinet, they crossover at 330 Hz 2. order and the result should be very pleasing. After reading the article I orded all the parts for it and the parts arrived friday so I might start building in about 2-3 weeks. Best regards Uwe |

Cool, I assume this design- Strassacker: Lautsprecher - Boxen - Selbstbau
I would be interested to hear your impressions, still weighing up the 10F Vs CA12RCY for a sealed mini-monitor design. |

Inrank, do you mind saying if you're the one who wanted to sell your Omnes Audio BB3.AL and why? I'm only casually wondering because I bought a couple of Veravox 3X just for the fun of it. (I still have more reading to do before building speakers. Mine are still in a box. I don't know how to hook anything up at this point.)

I sold the little BB3.Al's as at the time, i was really cash strapped, and sold all my hifi! I never made new boxes for them, just put them in the old original Ikea Bowl speakers I made many years ago for the Bandor 50mm drivers.
I should have kept them really, I tried them in OB and they were very life like with vocals, and obviously missing most of the bass. I have 4x Fountek FE87 sitting at home still waiting for a project to start, I was hoping that they would have at least 90% of what the Bandor/Veravox drivers do. |
