Default Huge capacitors

Hi! Some of you has probably seen these beasts already:

Click the image to open in full size.

300uF Capacitors, 25 kg each, 1 KM of metalfoil. Price? I dont dare to make a guess.. I know that a pair of 6.8 uF caps in the same series cost +4000 USD.

Apparently these were a specil order for a xo application of some kind.

But is it really a good idea to put 1 Km of metalfoil in series with your speakerwire? Or , how are these to be used, you think?

My topsystem ( midrange and tweeter ) are for upgrading new midrange . I am afraid it will be a hard job to bring them up to my apartment . 100 uf. cast in each ! Do anybody else have them for impedance correction on the midrange upwards ?

no, the only conclusion safe to draw from the above 2 posts would be

........squirrel!

in other words, some of us have short attention spans, and are very easily distracted

You do not know much about caps my friend. The foil is not in series with signal.

Well, you need to run a electric signal through the foil to build up a charge in the dielectric material, in this case probably impregnated paper. I don't know about you, but I always put my crossover parts in the signal path.

If this is fundamentally wrong, enlighten me! I'm no expert, hence the question:
