Hi
Anybody has any experience with the Scan Speak 10F/4424G00 fullrange? How is the sound? I was thinking of making a two way speaker with the 10F/4424G00 and the 30W/4558T00 12" woofer (also from Scan Speak) crossed at around 500 Hz with 6 dB slope (1. order). It should be either a closed box ( 100 liters ) or in a box with the corresponding slave (150 liters ). So it will be a big two way box. I would timealign the two speakers mechanically by making the baffle thicker around the woofer. The box would be at least 35 cm wide. I do not have so much experience with fullrange but I have built a few with the Tangband 4W 1320 and i liked the sound (in a tappered TL (10/1 listen by ear down to 37 Hz). Will the Scan Speak be any improvement? Any thoughts anyone? Best regards Uwe |

I haven't heard the 10f but I am also interested in such an application as it did measure very well indeed with a near perfect waterfalldiagram as well in a german speaker diy magazine.
In my case i thought of a project with the 10f initially unfiltered in a closed very small compartiment of 1 litre or so, and have a bass driver crossed at 120hz or so (i forgot how the 10f simulated) with a steeper filter than 6db. Box indeed wide enough, I seem to remember from the german article that the 10f didn't need a baffle step filter in a sufficently wide box. I will try to find the article back. |

Update: i found the article back, it was in hobby hifi 6/2010. Sorry, they didn't mention box width and bsc, i must have been confused with another review.
In any case it seems like a seriously good fullrange driver when helped with a sub. The waterfalldiagram is among the best I've seen for fr drivers. |

Hi
I also have similar plans. After playing around with some Fostex units, I come across the Scan Speak 10f, so I bought a pair. My plan is to use them with Aurasound NS12 in a (approximately) 90 L closed box. I have long been a great fan of Danish speaker units like Scan speak, Dynaudio, Skaaning and others. The dominant players in the market for small full rangers seem to be Fostex (with many years of experience), TangBand and maybe Mark Audio. It therefore amasses me see that when Scan Speak make a small full ranger they seem to do it so well. These observations are purely based on specs. and the opinions of others, since I haven’t heard the 10f yet. But maybe Dave from Planet10 can give a comment on the performance of the 10f compared to some of the other brands mentioned here.
