Awhile back I posted about an 8" fullrange driver from Sonodyne that used Hanji paper. Some people liked what they saw, others seemed more skeptical. I just discovered a Ad selling ALTEC 515 drivers with Hanji paper for $3500!
Perhaps this Hanji paper is as good as I expected it would be after all? IPC 515A Hanji Cone --- Rebuilt with our new material Hand made Hanji cones. Thetubeguy1954 (Tom Scata)

I wouldn't fire them up on a 95% humidity day that's for sure. doesn't look very thick. and that price is crazy for something that looks so fragile you couldn't crank them up.
My opinion is not to be taken for more than what you paid for it. |

Just saw these over on the Altec Board. Beautiful paper, but ouch! the price.
Hanji paper is very labor intensive, but still. At that price it ought to be field coil with power supply too 'cause that's almost $1500 per driver over the cost of new GPA 416s. Or $1470 for the fancy cone. |

I'd expect a pretty fuzzy impedance character but good sound within the structural limits. You often see "widerange" drivers have a lot of breakup ripple in their impedance profile.
Attached is a BD BD15 in a vented 4.5 ft cab tuned to about 40.

No, it's not bad, the damping and cone together are pretty decent. But compared to a heavier coned assembly like a 2226h or such, it's quite a lot of ripple. Fortunately not something needing correction.
